Gamma Investors’ first investment was in Soundview Technology (Formerly WIT Capital) in 1998. In the following year, a dozen ad hoc investments were made by the loosely organized members. In 2000, the Angels formalized their investment strategy and formed Gamma Investors, and raised money for the creation of Gamma Fund I.
In order to capitalize on Gamma Investors’ partners’ significant experience in the capital markets, the portfolio focused primarily on internet-centric financial-services companies. Notwithstanding this focus, Gamma Investors has invested in non-financial services companies where a worthy opportunity arose and was within our investment criteria.
